Colorado Guided Whitetail Deer Hunts - Free Range Hunts
Our Whitetail Deer Hunts take place during the months of October and November on the Eastern Plains of Colorado. This is a fair chase hunt with open ground and many agricultural fields where most Whitetails feed. The terrain holds sand hills, sage bluffs, and river bottoms where the Whitetails like to bed. Our agricultural fields consist of corn, milo, wheat, and soybeans, providing a variety of food sources, all of which the Whitetails love.
Fair Chase Whitetail Hunts in Eastern Colorado
With open ground, this is an extremely challenging hunt. Some of the Whitetails will bed in the cottonwoods that dot the river bottom, and some will bed up in the sand hills and sage bluffs; you can see for miles, so seeing the deer is not the difficult part; it’s getting one close enough for a shot that provides the largest challenge. Clients are placed in 1 of 2 elevated blinds or posted up along fence corners depending on what the deer are doing; these spots are between the feed and bedding, so there are opportunities for both stand hunting as well as spot and stalk opportunities.
Hunting Area in Eastern Colorado
The buck-to-do ratio on our ranch is very close to 1:1 and may, in fact, be just over that in favor of the bucks. There is very little pressure on these deer, so they are not overly spooky once they leave the agricultural feeding areas.
The genetics in our area are crazy, we are targeting bucks in the 160 class and you will have a legitimate opportunity at bucks scoring in the 170 – 180” mark, they are not around every bush, but they are in the area.

Semi Guided Whitetail Hunts Eastern Colorado
Our semi-guided hunts are 6 days and include meals and lodging. The Eastern Colorado ranch house is close to the hunting area, so there are no long drives to the hunting spots. Whitetail clients are booked for 6-day hunts with a total of 4 clients booked each year, keeping the pressure very low. Whitetail hunters will be sharing camp with our Mule Deer hunters, but they are hunting in a completely different area than the Whitetail hunting clients. Our whitetail deer hunts are semi-guided, meaning you will have the run of the ranch. Semi-guided hunts require some experience, and hunters must have the experience to score a buck on the hoof. Shots can be as long as you can shoot, but we prefer you limit your shots to 300 yards and under to eliminate wounded game animals. This is a wild and open country, and you can see for miles, but typical of whitetails, they can sneak up on you even in this open terrain. It's very important to keep your eyes open and be looking in all directions on a consistent basis.
