Hunting Lodge in Colorado

JCH Bunk House Hunting Lodge

Colorado Hunting Lodge - JCH Ranch

The JCH Bunk House Lodge is named after the original homesteader, John C Howard, whose family settled this awesome piece of North Park back around 1860. The hunting lodge is the original ranch house built from lodge pole pine trees, which were hand-hewn from the timbers in the surrounding wilderness. Although the exterior of the house is dressed in siding, the inside still bears the logs that were all formed by hand back in the day!

Several other 1800s cattle operation buildings on site were once located 10 miles east in the ghost town of Teller City. When this mining town was deserted overnight due to a gold strike just west of Denver, many local residents transported the buildings down to the lower flat for their ranching operations using handmade skis in the dead of winter. These skis can be viewed as part of the lodge's landscaping. Our clients are free to roam these buildings and wonder about all the conversations that have taken place since those days, take photos, and relax by our fire pit! There is a great pond filled with good-sized brown trout, where you will see plenty of ducks and geese, located steps from the lodge.

The three-bedroom lodge sleeps 7 comfortably and is used for our smaller, more quaint groups. When the weather gets bad, which it will in the later seasons, we have a washer and dryer so you can be as comfortable as possible out in the elements, and 1 full bathroom with an awesome shower (an authentic 1800s outhouse available as well). There is a comfortable living room with Direct TV, high-speed wireless internet, and a kitchen with all the cooking utilities needed to ensure you are well-fed by our in-camp cooks. There is also a private rustic cabin available for couples or clients wishing for a bit more privacy; the cabin is located around 100 yards from the main lodge.
